PIKESVILLE, MD (April 11, 2016) — JCS, a nonprofit human service agency, hosted its inaugural networking and awards breakfast, Strictly Business. Hundreds of the region’s top business leaders and employers were in attendance. Bob Caret, Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, and Mike Gill, Maryland Secretary of Commerce, were the event’s keynote speakers. Jennifer Gilbert of WBFF served as the Master of Ceremonies.

The Strictly Business networking and awards breakfast honored employers who strengthen Maryland’s economy through a commitment to workforce development. JCS presented Blue Ocean, Wegmans, and PDP Group, Inc. with the Employer Partnership Award for their outstanding commitment to helping our community work.

Blue Ocean President Jonathan Ehrenfeld said, “We currently employ approximately 120 individuals in our organization. We feel like it’s essential for the success of our operation to reach out to our local communities and see who could possibly come on board and contribute to our mission, our values and our goals. We’ve placed several individuals through the partnership between Blue Ocean and JCS. These individuals have been fantastic and are big contributors to our organization. Having JCS as a local resource for our organization has really been a tremendous benefit to us and has helped us do our jobs better and more effectively.”

The JCS Career Center has been assisting employers with their recruiting and hiring needs for over 75 years, helping them find qualified employees who meet the specific needs of their business.
