It’s not every day we get to sponsor, host, and participate in such a meaningful and fun event, but that’s exactly what we did at Jmore’s Good Energy Pickleball Party to benefit Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland.
Presented by BGE, the event took place at our Coppermine Fitness facilities in Pikesville’s DoubleTree hotel, who made the space available free of charge. Pickleball veteran Lynne Coburn ran a clinic to teach newcomers the basics of the game. On top of that, players familiar with the sport could jump into lively matches against players of similar skill. Whether they joined a more competitive game or a casual open-play session was up to them.
The great thing about this event was that a portion of the proceeds are being used to enrich the lives of Maryland seniors. Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland immediately puts donations to use. Their site reads, “For seniors throughout Central Maryland, we do more than deliver nutritious meals. We provide support and safety-net services that help sustain health, promote independence, maintain economic stability, and improve overall quality of life.”
The Pickleball Party may be over, but there’s never a bad time to donate. We happily encourage you to make a donation or pay for a meal that a senior citizen will be grateful for. The BlueCares team thanks our community for this opportunity and can’t wait to sponsor in the future!
You can also get in on the action with Lynn’s ongoing clinics and the weekly leagues at this Coppermine location and others.
