MIDDLE RIVER, MD – May 8, 2019 – Blue Ocean is excited to announce that they have secured Coppermine Fieldhouse as an anchor tenant for their Aviation Station in Middle River, MD. The new Coppermine location will trade as ‘Coppermine Aviation Station’. This location will be the ninth location for the expansive indoor and outdoor activities program. The new complex will house a state-of-the-art training facility for Coppermine’s existing lacrosse and club soccer programs, as well as provide a world-class facility in service of youth and adult sports, as well as social activities.
The new facility, situated at 2800 Eastern Boulevard in Middle River, MD, is conveniently located at the intersection of Routes 43 and 150 across from the Martin State Airport and only steps away from the MARC rail station. Blue Ocean will be acquiring the 2 million square foot, 50-acre Middle River site this summer and has entered into a strategic partnership with Coppermine Fieldhouse to lease 120,000 square feet – making this new location one of Maryland’s largest indoor sports complexes.
Coppermine plans to allocate 80,000 square feet for a full-size indoor soccer and lacrosse field slated to open in 2019. As the project further develops, the sports complex will expand to include additional space for basketball, volleyball, baseball, futsal, gymnastics, sports performance training, a health club, and a family entertainment center. A host of new jobs and coaching opportunities will be created with the expansion into this latest location.

This substantial redevelopment program spearheaded by Blue Ocean will aim to ‘breathe new life’ into this very important community asset. Careful consideration will be given to what this site has meant to the Middle River, White Marsh, and Essex communities over multiple generations. Formerly known as the “Middle River Depot”, Blue Ocean will be rebranding this area to be “Aviation Station”.
