On Saturday, June 10, the University of Maryland hosted the 15th annual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K. Thousands of runners and spectators alike came from across the state and beyond to participate in the day’s events.
This wasn’t just any half marathon, however. While the shoes were hitting the asphalt and cheers rang out from the sidelines, money was being raised for the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) to make strides in cancer research. This center is one of just seventy-one in the country identified as a leader in cancer research, patient care, and treatment.
While plenty of funds were raised through merchandise sales and sponsorships, several businesses donated to the annual event. Blue Ocean was proud to join their ranks.
Many of us know someone who has been lost to the disease or has battled and overcome it. Countless people are currently in the midst of that battle. That’s why the work of the UMGCCC is so vital. We envision a world that has won this fight, and we will do what we can to contribute.
